Blogging with Students

This year I used blogging with the fifth grade as a response to literature. They love it!
Here are some great tools to use with your students for blogging
You can begin with blogging etiquette.
I also did a lesson on guidelines to follow when we blog :

Guidelines for Blogging
  • Use proper grammar, like you are writing to a teacher.
  • Don't attack other people.
  • Stay on topic.
  • Don't abbreviate or use slang.
  • Everyone needs to participate
  • Comment more than once. Don't blog and run.
  • Don't just repeat other people's thoughts. Add or expand.
  • Feel free to politely express your opinion.
  • Respect each others comments.
  • Disagree with ideas, not people.

I choose to fully moderate comments.

Follow School Policies!

Make sure you follow all school rules and policies concerning posting student work, identifying students online, and using Internet resources. You also need a parent consent form for every blogger.
